Good morning SE Familia!
We pray you all are having a great start to 2024! We have been envisioning and praying for this year and are excited to see what will unfold. We don't want to spoil all of the possibilities, but some of the things we are expecting to continue are:
Scholarships for students in Honduras to take the TOEFL and SAT exams,
Mentoring high school seniors in Honduras,
Sending out care packages and helping students studying at the university level from Honduras, and
Begin moving forward on our Gym and Computer Lab project for the La Union Lempira, Honduras community! (PS, we raised just under $1,000 from out art auction! thank you to ALL who showed up, in person or online. It was such a success for our first time doing something like that and excites for more in the future!)

Some of the incredible artwork going home with their winners!

Many of our projects and initiatives focus on communities in Honduras. We have many ties to Honduras (too many for this email!), and it will always remain our focus because we want to help bridge the opportunity gap the communities we work with face.
However, a big question we are asking ourselves for 2024 is: how can we do what we do in Honduras here in Iowa? The West Des Moines area is a very diverse community, and just as there are needs outside of the USA, there are still very real and deep needs here in Iowa. We strive to be a source of hope and encouragement to those we work with in Honduras and Iowa. We want to grow our partnership with communities and continue to impact the lives of those around us. This opens up some really cool possibilities; however, as we dream, we have Psalm 127:1 at the forefront of our minds:
"Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain." (ESV)
SE Familia, we ask that you pray for us and with us. Pray that God gives us eyes to see the doors He opens and closes, gives us ears to listen to His voice and wise counsel to those around us, and gives us His hands and feet to go and do what He has prepared.
We would really appreciate it if you could share our newsletters, Facebook or Instagram posts, and our stories with coworkers, friends, or family. If you or anyone you share what we do at Sembrando Esperanza, please do not hesitate to reach out and ask!
Go well,
Alejandra + Austin Hudson
